PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Demolition and Salvage <br />Project No. 180162 02 41 00 - 6 <br /> <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 GENERAL <br />A. Major obstructions encountered that are not shown or indicated on the Drawings, or <br />could not have been foreseen by visual inspection of the site prior to bidding, should <br />immediately be brought to the attention of the Construction Manager. Construction <br />Manager will make a determination for proceeding with the work. <br />B. Blasting is not allowed within the City limits of Everett. <br /> <br />3.02 SAFETY REQUIREMENTS <br />A. All debris, materials, piping, and miscellaneous waste products from the demolition <br />process shall be removed safely from the project site as soon as possible. Dispose of in <br />accordance with applicable federal, state and local regulations. Contractor is responsible <br />for determining these regulations and shall bear all costs associated with disposal of <br />these items. <br />3.03 UTILITIES <br />A. Determine whether there are utilities in demolition areas that are needed for continued <br />service to other facilities. Relocate such utilities before demolition work begins. <br />B. Provide temporary services during interruptions to existing utilities as acceptable to <br />Construction Manager and Owner of utilities. <br />C. Utilities serving facilities to be demolished shall be isolated. Isolation shall occur at a <br />point closest to the remaining active portion of the utility. <br />D. Remove utility lines that are exposed by demolition excavation. Likewise, remove all <br />manholes, catch basins, and vault type structures no longer in use. <br />E. Cut and plug ends of abandoned pipe with concrete to prevent groundwater infiltration. <br />Interior of pipe shall be cleaned and then completely filled with concrete. Install plug <br />using cement-based dry-pack grout conforming to ASTM C1107, Grade B or C with a <br />minimum plug depth of 24 inches. <br />F. Where specified, pressure grout pipe in accordance with Section 03 64 00 Injection <br />Grouting and Section 33 05 04.30 Selective Demolition Sewers. <br />G. Some existing pipe is to be re-purposed under this contract, as specified. Special care <br />shall be taken to protect from damage the pipe to be repurposed. <br />3.04 DEMOLITION <br />A. The demolition drawings are based on available information, but the existing conditions <br />may differ from what is presented. The Contractor shall be responsible for determining <br />the scope and extent of the required work by inspecting the site prior to submittal of bid. <br />Additional record drawings are available from the Construction Manager.
