PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Demolition and Salvage <br />Project No. 180162 02 41 00 - 8 <br /> <br />3.05 PARTIAL DEMOLITION <br />A. Remove all items that are scheduled for demolition to their full extent, unless otherwise <br />shown or specified for partial demolition. <br />B. Partial demolition includes those facilities where a portion of a structure is to remain. <br />Limits of partial demolition are shown on the Drawings. <br />C. Partial demolition procedures shall not impair the integrity of the existing structure that is <br />to remain. Where necessary, and where shown, the Contractor shall saw cut or line core <br />drill the existing structure to prevent rupturing or cracking facilities that remain in use. <br />Those structures damaged by the Contractor that are to remain in service shall be <br />repaired to the satisfaction of the Construction Manager at the Contractor’s expense. <br />D. Cut off all pipes, structural attachments, and embedded metal supports that project into <br />the demolition area flush with the wall, floor or ceiling. <br />E. Remove all pipe hangers, mechanical equipment, mechanical attachments, and <br />supports. Where necessary, empty pipes shall be plugged with fireproof sealant to <br />maintain fire rating for wall. <br />F. Unless otherwise noted on the drawings where concrete removal occurs, existing <br />reinforcing that is exposed shall be cut flush and grind smooth with surrounding surface. <br />All holes shall be patched with epoxy concrete to form a smooth wall or floor finish. <br />G. Remove buried pipe in accordance with this Section. Backfill in the vicinity of the pipe <br />removal shall be in accordance with the requirements of Section 31 23 00, and meeting <br />a minimum 95% compaction, in accordance with the ASTM D1557. <br />3.06 MISCELLANEOUS DEMOLITION <br />A. All existing pavement, landscaping, and other surface features demolished because of <br />the Contractor’s activities shall be replaced back to its original condition unless other <br />restoration work is called for on the Drawings. <br />3.07 PROTECTION <br />A. The Contractor shall provide protection devices including barricades, fencing, warning <br />signs, lights, and whatever else is necessary to ensure the security of, and within, the <br />facility during all phases of demolition. Requirements of federal, state and local statutes <br />and regulations dealing with demolition or public safety shall be strictly adhered to by the <br />Contractor. <br />3.08 DISPOSAL OF DEMOLITION DEBRIS <br />A. Remove demolition debris from the work site and dispose in accordance with all local <br />laws, codes and ordinances at the Contractor’s expense. <br />B. Decant materials prior to disposal.
