Addendum 4 Page 4 <br />CITY OF EVERETT 3200 Cedar Street Everett, WA 98201 (425) 257-8800 Fax (425) 257-8882 <br /> <br />Item 11 - SHEET C-5001 and C-5002: <br /> Replace sheets C-5001 and C-5002 with updated version, attached. <br /> <br />ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS SUBMITTED FOR CLARIFICATION <br /> <br />Q1 – Section 31 63 33 Drilled Micropiles are specified to be Contractor Design based <br />on ultimate capacity within the non-liquefiable dense glacial soils to a minimum <br />elevation of -12 ft. We request bid item 77 and this specification section be revised to be <br />measured and paid by the linear foot as total pile lengths are indeterminate at this time. <br /> <br />Bid item 77 to remain lump sum. Estimated grout to bond ultimate strengths are <br />provided in the geotechnical report based on commonly accepted factors. We <br />estimate that a 10 foot long unbonded zone below the may be required casing be <br />required. The total length of micropiles will depend on contractor’s means and <br />methods and including whether they elect to install the micropiles from the <br />ground surface or can install them from the bottom of excavation. <br /> <br />Q2 – Section 31 50 00 2.01 A requires shoring within the zone of influence of existing <br />structures to be either slide rail or internally braced soldier pile. Section 1.05 requires <br />the contractor to design the shoring system. Please provide all locations where <br />excavation is within the zone of influence along with the applicable surcharge loading <br />that should be applied to the shoring system. <br />Contractor to determine the zone of influence per Section 31 05 00 1.05 H based <br />on bid documents and Contractor anticipated excavation limits. Section 31 50 00 <br />1.06 E specifies where soldier pile shoring is required. <br /> <br />Surcharge pressure loading on shoring varies along alignment. See WMVD <br />record drawings for additional loading information and geotechnical reports in <br />the Attachments. <br />Q3 - Sheet CD-2602 trench details A and B show installing 18-24” of trench foundation <br />material beneath the pipe zone bedding. Details C, D, E and F identify trench foundation <br />material but do not provide depths. The measurement and payment for the pipe bid <br />items (Section 01 22 13 1.9 A.4) requires the pipe bid items to include all removal, <br />replacement, and preparation of trench foundation and subgrade, geotextile wraps <br />where specified, placement, compaction, and testing of backfill materials. The contract <br />also provides bid item 73 for Over-excavation trench stabilization. Please clarify if all <br />excavation, shoring, and imported material below the pipe zone bedding should be <br />included in bid item 73. <br /> <br />See Item 10 for revision to CD-2602 keynote.
