We request bid item 77 and this specification section be revised to be
measured and paid by the linear foot as total pile lengths are indeterminate at this time.

Bid item 77 to remain lump sum. Estimated grout to bond ultimate strengths are
provided in the geotechnical report based on commonly accepted factors. We
estimate that a 10 foot long unbonded zone below the may be required casing be
required. The total length of micropiles will depend on contractor’s means and
methods and including whether they elect to install the micropiles from the
ground surface or can install them from the bottom of excavation.

Q2 – Section 31 50 00 2.01 A requires shoring within the zone of influence of existing
structures to be either slide rail or internally braced soldier pile. Section 1.05 requires
the contractor to design the shoring system. Please provide all locations where
excavation is within the zone of influence along with the applicable surcharge loading
that should be applied to the shoring system.
Contractor to determine the zone of influence per Section 31 05 00 1.05 H based
on bid documents and Contractor anticipated excavation limits. Section 31 50 00
1.06 E specifies where soldier pile shoring is required.

Surcharge pressure loading on shoring varies along alignment. See WMVD
record drawings for additional loading information and geotechnical reports in
the Attachments.
Q3 - Sheet CD-2602 trench details A and B show installing 18-24” of trench foundation
material beneath the pipe zone bedding. Details C, D, E and F identify trench foundation
material but do not provide depths. The measurement and payment for the pipe bid
items (Section 01 22 13 1.9 A.4) requires the pipe bid items to include all removal,
replacement, and preparation of trench foundation and subgrade, geotextile wraps
where specified, placement, compaction, and testing of backfill materials. The contract
also provides bid item 73 for Over-excavation trench stabilization. Please clarify if all
excavation, shoring, and imported material below the pipe zone bedding should be
included in bid item 73.

See Item 10 for revision to CD-2602 keynote. Trench foundation stabilization is
anticipated along the full length of the alignment north of the railroad crossing in
