PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Erosion and Sedimentation Control
Project No. 180162 31 25 00 - 17

2. Install diversion dikes or swales to collect and route water to the slope drain at the
top of the slope.
3. The soils around and under the pipe and entrance section shall be compacted to
prevent undercutting.
4. The pipe shall be secured to prevent movement.
5. The area below the outlet shall be stabilized with an energy dissipation structure.
M. Sediment Ponds and Traps
1. Divert all stormwater runoff from the construction area to a sediment pond, sediment
trap, or enhanced treatment system before disposal.
2. Provide overflow structure and piping for each sediment pond and sediment trap,
where shown on the approved TESC Plan.
3. Immediately inform the Owner’s Representative whenever an overflow from any of
the sediment ponds or traps is imminent.
N. Catch Basin Closure and Sump Pump System
1. Install a properly sized plug in the underground pipe outlet when site water discharge
to a catch basin in a drainage system, public or private, exceeds 25 NTU.
2. Install an automated electrical sump pump in the basin and pump site water
exceeding 25 NTU to the site discharge location per Section 31 23 19, DEWATERING.
3.05 MAINTENANCE
A. Inspect, maintain, and repair measures on a regular basis to assure continued
performance.
1. Maintain and modify the measures throughout construction to meet specified and/or
permit requirements and as indicated in the TESC Plan.
2. If erosion is occurring, immediately make modifications to stop erosion and to
mitigate the sedimentation.
3. If temporary measures are no longer needed, they may be removed with the approval
of a revised TESC Plan.
4. Repair or replace damaged or missing items immediately.
5. Maintain seeded surfaces throughout construction.
6. Inspect each TESC measure daily and immediately after each rainfall event greater
than 0.1 inch of rainfall in 24 hours per paragraph 3.02.C.2 and perform proper
maintenance as required.
B. Sediment Removal
1. Remove accumulated sediments from sediment ponds and traps when the
accumulated sediment depth reaches 12 inches.
2. Remove sediment from behind silt fences when deposits are 6 inches deep or
greater.
a. Inspect uphill side of silt fence for signs of fence clogging, acting as a barrier to
flow, and causing channelization of flows parallel to fence. Remove trapped
sediment and replace silt fence.
b. Replace filter fabric where clogged, damaged, deteriorated due to ultraviolet light
breakdown, or as directed by the Owner’s Representative.
