PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Erosion and Sedimentation Control
Project No. 180162 31 25 00 - 18

3. Remove sediment from catch basin inserts and/or replace inserts when no longer
providing filtration and through-flow.
4. Prevent sediments from being flushed to the downstream system during cleaning.
C. Sediment Disposal
1. If sediment has obvious contamination such as unusual color, staining, corrosion,
unusual odors, fumes, or oily sheen, notify the Owner’s Representative for direction.
2. Disposal of sediment that does not have obvious contamination:
a. May be distributed uniformly across the areas that are to be seeded prior to the
seeding operation.
b. Disposed of at an on-site location designated by the Owner’s Representative.
D. Be responsible for the implementation of the TESC Plan, including all revisions, and the
construction, inspection, maintenance, replacement, and modification of the erosion and
sedimentation control facilities.
E. Make revisions to the TESC Plan and perform the work necessary to meet the
requirements of the SMMWW.
F. If unanticipated site circumstances require installation of additional BMPs, the additional
BMPs shall be installed within ten calendar days.
G. Use form “Construction Stormwater Site Inspection Checklist” from Ecology Publication
#06-10-020 or approved equal to conduct weekly Construction Site Stormwater Site
Inspections:
1. Assign a CESCL to conduct these inspections as required by Ecology NPDES permit.
H. Inspect BMPs as required in this Section and by the permits. When results of weekly
Construction Stormwater Site Inspection Checklist show that a BMP needs repair or
maintenance or that an additional BMP is needed, the corrective actions must be
implemented within 10 days of the date of the inspection.
I. Prevent solids or turbid runoff from entering storm drains or local surface water bodies
by utilizing appropriate source control BMPs.
J. Where erosion occurs, make modifications to the source control BMPs to eliminate the
cause of the erosion and then mitigate its effects.
K. Street Cleaning
1. Periodic street cleaning shall be provided to remove any sediment that may have
been tracked out onto paved areas. Sediment shall be removed by shoveling or
sweeping and be carefully removed to a suitable disposal area where it will not be re-
eroded. The use of vacuum sweepers is encouraged. Additional street cleaning may
be required as directed by the City Public Works Inspector. Special care shall be
taken to reduce sediments from entering storm drains connected to fish-bearing
streams. The use of water to clean sediment from streets is not an acceptable
alternative. The use of supplementary water to suppress dust or remove sediment
while performing cleaning Work shall be held to a minimum unless required by the
Owner’s Representative.
