The approximate limits of required pavement replacement are shown on the Contract
Drawings. Pavement replacement should be considered as part of the means and
methods selected by the Contractor for their own convenience and as required by the
government agency having jurisdiction of the right-of-way as a result of the Contractor’s
work.
B. Except where specifically required elsewhere in these Specifications, provide a
permanent pavement replacement as follows:
1. In accordance with the requirements of the Agency Encroachment Permit/Street Cut
permit and applicable specifications.
2. If a cut is made in an asphalt surface under moratorium, three (3) years old or less,
the roadway will be rotomilled from the edge of each cut to the next designated lane
divider, curb or as directed by the Agency inspector, whichever is greater.
3. Recycled asphalt shall only be provided where allowed by the permitting agency.
4. For all older road surfaces, asphalt will be required for the length and width of the cut
with applicable pavement Restoration t-sections. Any adjustments may be required
by the Agency inspector/Engineer based on the location of any seams when
compared to the traveled paths upon the roadway.
5. Replace asphalt to lip of gutter if extent of surface repair is less than 5 feet from lip
of gutter.
6. Where composite pavements are present, provide flowable fill into all excavations
12” or less in width prior to application of an asphalt finished surface.
7. Pavement shall be replaced with the same type and thickness of asphalt to match
the existing asphalt or 4” inches, whichever is greater.
C. If Contractor’s operations cause damage to existing pavement beyond specified limits,
remove and replace damaged pavement to the limits required by the agency with
jurisdiction.
1. Replace any damaged or disturbed pavement not specified for removal at no
additional cost to the Owner.
2. Contractor’s means and methods which result in additional pavement replacement
shall be considered as part of the Contractor’s bid for their own convenience at no
additional cost to the Owner.
D. Contractor shall protect in place or replace pavement markings, traffic loops, and
signage as required by the government agency having jurisdiction of the right-of-way at
no additional cost to the Owner.
3.05 TEMPORARY PAVEMENT
A.
