2026 Pavement Maintenance Overlay Special Provisions <br />PW# 3860 SP - 78 March 5, 2026 <br />1 then be carefully painted with hot asphalt cement or asphalt emulsion and shall be <br />2 immediately covered with dry paving sand before the asphalt cement solidifies. <br />3 <br />4 The inside throat of the structure shall be thoroughly mortared and plastered through <br />5 to the outside of the structures concrete adjustment rings. <br />6 <br />7 Castings that need replacement shall be identified by the City of Everett. <br />8 Replacement casting will be supplied by the City of Everett and original casting will <br />9 be picked up by the City of Everett. <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 GLF 7-05.3(5).docx <br />13 Adjusting Valve Boxes to Grade <br />14 (******) <br />15 <br />16 Section 7-05.3 of the standard specifications is supplemented with the following: <br />17 <br />18 (******) <br />19 Where shown in the plans, existing valve boxes and covers shall be adjusted to the <br />20 grade as staked or otherwise designated by the Engineer. The adjustment of the <br />21 valve box to grade by the use of riser rings is not allowed. <br />22 <br />23 Removal operations shall be conducted to prevent damage to the valve boxes. Any <br />24 parts or materials damaged due to the Contractor’s operations shall be replaced at <br />25 the Contractors expense. <br />26 <br />27 The Contractor shall conduct the valve box adjustments so that the fully-adjusted box <br />28 allows the respective valve to be fully operational.
