I <br /> 1 Section 2-02.3 is supplemented with the following: <br /> i3 (******) <br /> 4 Removal and Disposal of Hazardous Material <br /> I 5 Hazardous materials may exist within the limits of work, though specific limits of <br /> 6 contamination are not identified in the Plans. Refer to Appendices for additional reports and <br /> 7 information on site history, prior studies, and/or test results. <br /> I 8 <br /> 9 All necessary permits for this work will be furnished by the Contracting Agency. The <br /> 10 Contractor is responsible for all work, records, and reports required to perform the work <br /> Ii 1 <br /> 12 described in this section. The Contracting Agency will perform all testing of suspected <br /> hazardous or contaminated material. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 The Contractor shall notify the Engineer immediately if contamination is discovered or is <br /> I15 suspected through observations such as an oily sheen or discolored soils that may or may <br /> 16 not emit strong chemical odors. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Contaminated Soil and Hazardous Material <br /> 19 The Engineer will determine the limits of excavation required. All material that is <br /> 20 designated by the Engineer to be removed shall be handled and stored in a manner that <br /> I 21 prevents the spread of contamination to adjacent soil or water. Separate stockpiles shall <br /> 22 be maintained for known hazardous or contaminated material and for suspected hazardous <br /> 23 or contaminated material. The Contractor shall transport hazardous or contaminated <br /> I 24 material and dispose of it at a permitted facility. The Contractor shall provide the Engineer <br /> 25 with a copy of the shipping manifest or bill of lading indicating the amount of material <br /> 26 hauled to disposal, and bearing the disposal site operator's confirmation for receipt of the <br /> I 27 material. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Contaminated Water <br /> I 30 All water that is removed from the areas of contamination, including free water that leaches <br /> 31 from contaminated soil stockpiles or water that is suspected of being contaminated, shall <br /> 32 be collected, handled and stored in a manner that prevents the spread of contamination to <br /> 33 adjacent soil or water. The Contractor shall transport contaminated water and dispose of it <br /> I34 at a permitted facility. The Contractor shall provide the Engineer with a copy of the shipping <br /> 35 manifest or bill of lading indicating the amount of material hauled to disposal, and bearing <br /> 36 the disposal site operator's confirmation for receipt of the material. <br /> I37 <br /> 38 (******) <br /> 39 Section 2-02.3(4) Creosote Removal Plan <br /> I 40 Contractor shall follow Washington Department of Natural Resources Best <br /> 41 Management Practices for Pile Removal & Disposal (refer to Appendices) to the <br /> 42 extent practicable. The Contractor shall provide a Creosote Removal Plan that <br /> I 43 describes the sequence, means, and methods proposed to remove portions of the <br /> 44 train trestle and piles. <br /> 45 The plan shall include the following: <br /> I 46 • Site access and material stockpile techniques. <br /> 47 • Proposed extraction technique. Vibratory extraction method is required <br /> 48 where feasible. <br /> I 49 • Proposed BMPs to capture debris in water and address <br /> 50 resuspension/turbidity. <br /> 51 • Methods to contain any sawdust from cutting treated lumber. <br /> I52 • Proposed transport approach and disposal site. <br /> IRIVERFRONT DEVELOPMENT NORTH WETLAND COMPLEX 101 <br />
