No payment will be made for this item. <br /> 5 (******) <br /> 6 2-08 SPECIAL EXCAVATION (NEW SECTION) <br /> 7 <br /> 8 2-08.1 Description I <br /> 9 The Work described in this Section, regardless of the nature or type of materials encountered, <br /> 10 includes excavating, excavation below grade, over excavating, grading, habitat berm placement, <br /> 11 ditch block placement and the preparation of subgrade within the channels, breaches, and <br /> 111 <br /> 12 habitat berms areas shown in the Plans. This work also includes the removal of unsuitable <br /> 13 materials including soils, railroad trestle structures and piles, and organic and inorganic debris <br /> 14 encountered within the limits of breach and channel excavation areas shown in the Plans. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 All Work described here shall most reasonably conform to the lines and grades shown in the <br /> 17 Plans. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 2-08.2 Vacant <br /> 20 <br /> 21 2-08.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 22 <br /> 23 2-08.3(1) Special Excavation Plan <br /> 24 <br /> 25 1. Submittals <br /> 26 Prior to any Work within the limits of work, the contractor shall prepare and submit a <br /> 27 Special Excavation Plan, including the Fish Exclusion Protocol Plan. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 The Contractor shall submit the qualifications of the Contractor's Construction <br /> 30 Supervisor and Fisheries Biologist. Written summary of the qualifications shall be <br /> 31 submitted to the Engineer prior to the start of construction. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 The American Fisheries Society certification number of the Fisheries Biologist(s) <br /> 34 shall be submitted to Engineer prior to construction. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 2. Special Excavation Plan Contents <br /> 37 Plan shall include a narrative and drawings as needed to explain the following: <br /> 38 a. Description of proposed access methods to work areas <br /> 39 b. Schedule and sequence <br /> 40 i. Fish Exclusion <br /> 41 ii. Temporary Water Control <br /> 42 iii. Excavation and Habitat Berm Placement <br /> 43 c. List of Materials and Equipment <br /> 44 d. Methods <br /> 45 e. Contingency Plans <br /> 46 <br /> 47 The Special Excavation plan shall comply with all permit requirements, including <br /> 48 seasonal restrictions and shall account for tidal influence, Bigelow Creek, flows in the <br /> 49 Snohomish River and ground water. <br /> 50 <br /> 51 The Fish Exclusion Protocol Plan must be submitted and approved by the Engineer <br /> 52 prior to surface water diversion from existing or newly constructed wetlands, ditches, <br /> RIVERFRONT DEVELOPMENT NORTH WETLAND COMPLEX 104 <br />
