The Contractor shall utilize industry standard erosion and sedimentation control <br /> Best Management Practices such as catch basin protective inserts, check dams, silt <br /> fences, and holding tanks, to prevent turbid runoff during the duration of the <br /> Work. <br /> 4. No "track-out" of soils or other materials shall be allowed. The Contractor shall <br /> employ the use of built up construction entrances, wheel washes, and other means <br /> to prevent contamination of roads, streets, and other traveled surfaces in the vi- <br /> cinity of the project site. Should"track-out" occur, it shall be removed immediate- <br /> ly in accordance with the preceding Paragraph. <br /> 1.7 OIL SPILL PREVENTION AND CONTROL <br /> A. The Contractor shall be responsible for prevention, containment, and cleanup of spilling of oil, <br /> 1 <br /> fuel and other petroleum products used in the Contractor's operations. All such prevention, con- <br /> tainment and cleanup costs shall be borne by the Contractor. <br /> B. The Contractor is advised that discharge of oil from equipment or facilities into state waters or on- <br /> to adjacent land is not permitted under state water quality regulations. <br /> C. The Contractor shall, at a minimum, take the following measures regarding oil spill prevention, r <br /> containment and cleanup: <br /> 1. Fuel hoses, lubrication equipment, hydraulically operated equipment, oil drums, I <br /> and other equipment and facilities shall be inspected regularly for drips, leaks, or <br /> signs of damage, and shall be maintained and stored properly to prevent spills. <br /> Proper security shall be maintained to discourage vandalism. ' <br /> 2. All land-based oil and products storage tanks shall be diked or located so as to pre- <br /> vent spills from escaping to the water. Diking and subsoils shall be lined with im- <br /> pervious material to prevent oil from seeping through the ground and dikes. <br /> 3. All visible floating oils shall be immediately contained with booms, dikes, or other <br /> appropriate means and removed from the water prior to discharge into state wa- I <br /> ters. All visible oils on land shall be immediately contained using dikes, straw <br /> bales, or other appropriate means and removed using sand, ground clay, sawdust, <br /> or other absorbent material,which shall be properly disposed of by the Contractor. <br /> Waste materials shall be temporarily stored in drums or other leak proof contain- <br /> ers after cleanup and during transport to disposal. Waste materials shall be dis- <br /> posed off property at an approved site. <br /> 4.
