1 office of the County Auditor before the Director of Public Works shall issue 2 a permit authorizing the laying of the side sewer in any building site other 3 than the one served by it. The owner shall exhibit to the Director of 4 Public Works the recording number of the easement when required to do so. 5 G. Where physical conditions render compliance with the foregoing 6 provisions impracticable, the Director of Public Works may issue a special 7 permit for installation of the side sewer requiring compliance with the 8 provisions insofar as is reasonably possible, and such permit shall be 9 issued only upon the condition that the permittee shall record with the 10 County Auditor an instrument acceptable to the City agreeing to save 11 harmless and indemnify the City from any damage or injury resulting from 12 such installation. 13 SECTION 12: BACKWATER VALVE. 14 Whenever a situation exists involving an unusual danger of "backup" the 15 City may require a minimum elevation at which the house drain may be 16 discharged to the public sewer. Drains or sewers below such minimum 17 elevation shall be lifted by artificial means. It shall be unlawful for any 18 person to connect any basement with a City sewer without installing a 19 backwater valve at the outlet. All backwater valves shall be installed in a 20 vault to facilitate maintenance. The effective operation of the backwater 21 valve shall be the responsibility of the owner of the sewer or drain. 22 23 SECTION 13: RAIN WATER CONDUCTORS. 24 When rain water roof drains are authorized to be connected to storm 25 sewers or combined sewers, such conductors shall be connected to the main 26 horizontal house drain or to the sewer main line or lateral as required by 27 the Director of Public Works and shall be properly trapped and vented. 28 Drain from roof and/or areas shall be of the capacity in accordance with 29 square footage prescribed in the following areas: 30 31 32 9
