1 office of the County Auditor before the Director of Public Works shall issue <br /> 2 a permit authorizing the laying of the side sewer in any building site other <br /> 3 than the one served by it. The owner shall exhibit to the Director of <br /> 4 Public Works the recording number of the easement when required to do so. <br /> 5 G. Where physical conditions render compliance with the foregoing <br /> 6 provisions impracticable, the Director of Public Works may issue a special <br /> 7 permit for installation of the side sewer requiring compliance with the <br /> 8 provisions insofar as is reasonably possible, and such permit shall be <br /> 9 issued only upon the condition that the permittee shall record with the <br /> 10 County Auditor an instrument acceptable to the City agreeing to save <br /> 11 harmless and indemnify the City from any damage or injury resulting from <br /> 12 such installation. <br /> 13 <br /> SECTION 12: BACKWATER VALVE. <br /> 14 <br /> Whenever a situation exists involving an unusual danger of "backup" the <br /> 15 <br /> City may require a minimum elevation at which the house drain may be <br /> 16 <br /> discharged to the public sewer. Drains or sewers below such minimum <br /> 17 <br /> elevation shall be lifted by artificial means. It shall be unlawful for any <br /> 18 <br /> person to connect any basement with a City sewer without installing a <br /> 19 <br /> backwater valve at the outlet. All backwater valves shall be installed in a <br /> 20 <br /> vault to facilitate maintenance. The effective operation of the backwater <br /> 21 <br /> valve shall be the responsibility of the owner of the sewer or drain. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 SECTION 13: RAIN WATER CONDUCTORS. <br /> 24 When rain water roof drains are authorized to be connected to storm <br /> 25 sewers or combined sewers, such conductors shall be connected to the main <br /> 26 horizontal house drain or to the sewer main line or lateral as required by <br /> 27 the Director of Public Works and shall be properly trapped and vented. <br /> 28 Drain from roof and/or areas shall be of the capacity in accordance with <br /> 29 square footage prescribed in the following areas: <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> 9 <br />
