It shall be the responsibility of <br /> I 27 the Contractor to perform such removal as required for his work and to restore <br /> 28 these areas to original condition as directed by the Engineer. The Contractor shall <br /> 29 sawcut edges of all asphalt and concrete requiring removal. All expansion joints, <br /> I <br /> 30 <br /> 31 dummy joints, and "V" grooves shall be removed and shall be replaced to match <br /> existing joints. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 The ends and edges of the patched and re-surfaced areas shall meet and match <br /> I34 the existing surface and grade and shall terminate in neat even lines parallel to and <br /> 35 at right angles to the roadway. Damaged, disturbed, or otherwise affected areas, <br /> 36 as defined, shall have edges of existing pavement trimmed back to provide clean, <br /> 1 37 solid, vertical faces, free from loose material. Pavement patching shall be <br /> 38 preformed in accordance with Standard Drawing No. 316 and these specifications. <br /> 39 <br /> I 40 Where patches are made in cement concrete pavements or sidewalks, the cement <br /> 41 concrete shall be Class 4000, Type III. Asphalt concrete patching shall be <br /> 42 accomplished with HMA 1/2", PG 64-22. Tack coat shall be applied between <br /> I <br /> 43 <br /> 44 successive layers of asphalt. Asphalt for tack coat shall be Type CSS-1. The <br /> surface of all joints between existing asphalt pavement and the new pavement <br /> 45 shall be sealed with paving asphalt meeting the requirements of Section 9-02.1(4). <br /> 46 <br /> 47 All excavations in roadway areas shall be backfilled and patched with temporary <br /> 48 asphalt at the end of each workday unless permission is granted to do otherwise <br /> 49 by the Engineer. All temporary patches shall be permanently patched within two <br /> I <br /> 50 weeks of completion of work within the roadway area.
