Near the end of an SCC placement to aid in leveling the SCC in the forms. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 When vibration of SCC is allowed, the magnitude and duration of the applied vibration <br /> 8 shall be kept as minimal as possible. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 6-02.3(10)A Preconstruction Meeting <br /> 11 This section including title is revised to read: <br /> 12 <br /> 13 6-02.3(10)A Pre-Deck Pour Meeting <br /> 14 A pre-deck pour meeting shall be held 5 to 10 working days before placing deck <br /> 15 concrete-to discuss construction procedures, personnel,equipment to be used, <br /> 16 concrete sampling and testing and deck finishing and curing operations. Those <br /> 17 attending shall include, at a minimum, the superintendent, foremen in charge of placing <br /> 18 and finishing concrete, and representatives from the concrete supplier and the concrete <br /> 19 pump truck supplier. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 If the project includes more than one bridge deck, and if the Contractor's key personnel <br /> 22 change between concreting operations, or at request of the Engineer, additional <br /> 23 conferences shall be held before each deck placement. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 6-02.3(10)D Concrete Placement, Finishing, and Texturing <br /> 26 This section's content is deleted and replaced with the following new sub-sections: <br /> 27 <br /> 28 6-02.3(10)D1 Test Slab Using Bridge Deck Concrete <br /> 29 After the Contractor receives the Engineer's approval for the Class 4000D concrete mix <br /> 30 design, and a minimum of seven calendar days prior to the first placement of bridge <br /> 31 deck concrete, the Contractor shall construct a test slab using concrete of the approved <br /> 32 mix design. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 The test slab may be constructed on grade, shall have a minimum thickness of eight- <br /> 35 inches, shall have minimum plan dimensions of 10-feet along all four edges, and shall <br /> 36 be square or rectangular. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 During construction of the test slab, the Contractor shall demonstrate concrete sampling <br /> 39 and testing, use of the concrete temperature monitoring system, the concrete fogging <br /> 40 system, concrete placement system, and the concrete finishing operation. The <br /> 41 Contractor shall conduct the demonstration using the same type of equipment to be <br /> 42 used for the production bridge decks, except that the Contractor may elect to finish the <br /> 43 test slab with a hand-operated strike-board. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 After the construction of the test slab and the demonstration of bridge deck construction <br /> 46 operations is complete, the Contractor shall remove and dispose of the test slab in <br /> 47 accordance with Sections 2-02.3 and 2-03.3(7)C. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 6-02.3(10)D2 Preparation for Concrete Placement <br /> 50 Before placing bridge approach slab concrete, the subgrade shall be constructed in <br /> 51 accordance with Sections 2-06 and 5-05.3(6). <br /> 52 <br /> AMENDMENTS TO THE 2014 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS BOOK <br /> Revised: 8/3/15 <br />
