-19-
Based on our limited explorations, it is our opinion that seepage en-
countered in the test pits was due to perched water pockets, and not a
static groundwater level . If, during construction, a continuous source
of water is found in cut slopes, permanent drainage provisions will need
to be addressed.
In the vicinity of the proposed detention pipe at Hall Park, moderate
seepage and caving was encountered below a depth of 7 feet. If con-
struction excavations extend below this depth, slopes may need to be
flattened for stability purposes, or shoring may be required. It is
expected that construction groundwater management to depths of about 10
feet can be accomplished with sumps and pumps.
Large boulders (erratics) may be encountered during grading operations.
If removal of such boulders results in excavation below planned subgrade
elevation, the hole should be cleaned and then backfilled with fill com-
pacted to the appropriate density.
CLOSURE
This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of the owner and his
design representatives to aid in the design of the project as described
at the beginning of this report. The findings and recommendations were
prepared in accordance with generally accepted professional engineering
principles and practice. We make no other warranty, either express or
implied.
The findings and recommendations are based on our field explorations,
combined with an interpolation of soil and groundwater conditions be-
tween and beyond the exploration locations. If conditions are encoun-
tered during construction that appear to be different from those that
are described in this report, this office should be notified so that we
may review and verify or modify our recommendations, as appropriate.
