December 12, 2012
Thursday, December 13, 2012 to review. On Monday, December 17,
2012 each council member will submit to Deb Williams, Council
Coordinator, their selection of one of the applicants to nominate to the
open position. These selections will be made public by the Council
President no later than noon, Tuesday, December 18. He announced the
names of the applicants; Pete Kinch, June Robinson, Jocelyn Sievers-
Bailey, Scott Murphy, Heather Oie, and Don Hopkins. It is anticipated that
interviews will be held on December 27, 2012 and voting will be done on
January 2, 2013.
CITY ATTORNEY
City Attorney Iles had no comments.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
Robert Gray, Lake Stevens, expressed his frustration regarding the lack of
information being provided to he and his insurance company related to the
McCrossen Building fire. He requested advice on how he might be
allowed into the building to retrieve some of his papers and personal
items.
City Attorney Iles stated that it is a very unfortunate situation. The City
Building Official has looked at the building, has worked with experts, and
at the moment the building is too dangerous and life threatening to be
entered. He remarked that it is under the control of the property owner,
their insurance company, and the bank, and they are moving forward
towards demolition. Absent a structural engineer giving direction on what
needs to be done to the structure to allow people in, the City Building
Official is not going to do that.
Council President Gipson asked Attorney Iles if it would be possible for
the Building Official to enter the building and take pictures on behalf of the
Gray's. Attorney Iles stated that he would ask the question and report
back at next week's meeting.
346
