Garage structure <br /> Intent: <br /> To encourage structured parking to be architecturally compatible with the hospital <br /> medical office buildings and residential areas. <br /> Guidelines: <br /> • Garage structure will be designed to look like an"office building"and not a parking <br /> structure. The existing garage is an example of how this may be accomplished.Garage <br /> structures will have easily identified and separate entrances and exits for pedestrians <br /> and vehicles. <br /> 12. Lighting <br /> Intent: <br /> To ensure that site lighting contributes to the character of the site and does <br /> not disturb adjacent residential areas. <br /> Guidelines: <br /> • Lighting shall be provided within parking lots and along pedestrian walkways. <br /> • Lighting fixtures shall be limited to heights of 24 feet for parking lots and 18 feet for <br /> pedestrian walkways. All lighting shall be shielded from producing off-site glare, either <br /> through exterior shields or through optical design inside the fixture, so that the <br /> direction of light is downward. <br /> • Accent lighting should be used to highlight building/site entrances and special landscape <br /> features. <br /> 13. Integration of signs with architecture <br /> Intent: <br /> To ensure that signage is part of the overall design of a project and not additive or an <br /> afterthought. <br /> Guidelines: <br /> • Sign category"C" applies except for the following guidelines. <br /> • The design of buildings and site plans shall identify locations and sizes for future signs. <br /> • An overall sign program for the hospital shall be established and approved by the <br /> Planning Director. The sign program shall indicate location, size and general design. <br /> • Signs shall not project above the rood, parapet, or exterior wall. <br /> • Signs shall be oriented to pedestrians. <br /> • No flashing, blinking or electric message signs. <br /> 12 <br />
