Mr. Wayne Wentz
October 7, 1993
Page 2
Trip Generation and Distribution
The trip generation of the proposed complex was determined based on employee '
occupations and the work shifts assigned for their positions. The trip generation data was
provided by Tom Hingson, Transportation Supervisor for the Mukilteo School District
and summarized for the p.m. peak hour trips (see Table 1). No reduction factor was
utilized to account for high occupancy vehicles (HOV) such as carpools/ridesharing or
public transit users. Although the trip generation information provided by the School
District does not identify inbound trips for the proposed development (i.e., employee pick-
ups, afternoon deliveries, etc.), in5ound trips were assumed to be equivalent to the number
estimated to utilize HOV measures and are therefore represented in the total trip
assignment volumes. The proposed Mukilteo School District complex would generate a
total of 92 trips during the p.m. peak hour. Note: School bus vehicles have not been
included in the traffic assessment, since public transit is in itself a HOV measure.
Table 1
Trip Generation Summary
P.M.
