3) The soffit under the enclosed interior stairs should be shown as minimum one-hour fire-resistive <br />construction per Section 1009.6.3 (note that one layer of 5/8" Type X as called out on the plans is <br />not sufficient - a two layer assembly such as GA File No. RC 2601 could be used however). <br />4) The handrails on each side of the new stairs should be shown to continue horizontally at least 12 <br />inches beyond the top riser and continue along the slope for one tread depth beyond the bottom <br />riser. Section 1012.6 <br />5) The earth in Detail 1/3.0 should not be excavated below the top of the footings (exterior walls). <br />Section I �'09. ? <br />6) The plans indicate an access way cut in the crawlspace between the addition and existing <br />structures — it is not clear how access is gained into the crawlspace from outside of the <br />crawlspace however. ANSI A117.1-203 Section 604.2 <br />9) Grab bars in accordance with ANSI A117.1-2003 should be shown around the toilet in the toilet <br />room not marked as "ADA" as the room is being modified. The modified parts are therefore <br />required to comply with current accessible standards. Sections 3411.6 & 1109.2 <br />10)The walls within 2 feet of the water closets should be shown with smooth, hard nonabsorbent <br />surfaces adjacent to a height of 4 feet.
