3) The soffit under the enclosed interior stairs should be shown as minimum one-hour fire-resistive
construction per Section 1009.6.3 (note that one layer of 5/8" Type X as called out on the plans is
not sufficient - a two layer assembly such as GA File No. RC 2601 could be used however).
4) The handrails on each side of the new stairs should be shown to continue horizontally at least 12
inches beyond the top riser and continue along the slope for one tread depth beyond the bottom
riser. Section 1012.6
5) The earth in Detail 1/3.0 should not be excavated below the top of the footings (exterior walls).
Section I '09. ?
6) The plans indicate an access way cut in the crawlspace between the addition and existing
structures — it is not clear how access is gained into the crawlspace from outside of the
crawlspace however. Section 1209.1
7) The location of attic access openings should be shown on the plans for attic spaces greater than
30 inches clear space. Section 1209.2
8) The centerline of the toilets in both toilet rooms should be shown to be 16 to 18 inches from the
wall. ANSI A117.1-203 Section 604.2
9) Grab bars in accordance with ANSI A117.1-2003 should be shown around the toilet in the toilet
room not marked as "ADA" as the room is being modified. The modified parts are therefore
required to comply with current accessible standards. Sections 3411.6 & 1109.2
10)The walls within 2 feet of the water closets should be shown with smooth, hard nonabsorbent
surfaces adjacent to a height of 4 feet. Section 1210.2
Please provide a response letter, which shows where each item in this correction letter is addressed
on the plan set.
Upon resubmission of the drawings, your application will be given priority and plan review will begin.
All required submittals must be of sufficient detail and contain sufficient information to ensure that the
proposed structure will be constructed in compliance with all adopted codes.
Sincerely,
` C,
TonyF Ie
Building Official
:,
