C
Project:Combined Sewer Improvements"D"
Change Order No.2
Change Order Effective Date: 8/15/2003
B. Justification of the items being amended or added by this change order.
Item#4—Traffic Control Labor. Additional traffic control labor was needed to handle traffic from East
Marine View Drive into and out of the project areas.
Item#6—Sawing Pavement. Additional lineal footage for sawing pavement was used instead of
replacing whole concrete panels.
Item#7—Record Drawing. This item is deleted since the City Inspector completed this item.
Item#8—Removal and Replacement of Sidewalk,Curb and Gutter Type A. The contractor proposed
a cost savings CRIP along East Marine View Drive to remove and replace only the sidewalk.
Item#9—Unsuitable Foundation Excavation. This item is used on an as-needed basis when unsuitable
foundation material is discovered.
Item#11—Extra Depth Manhole,Type 1,48"Diameter. Original estimated quantity of extra depth for
the 48"Manhole was not used.
Item#12—Side Sewer Connection and One Cleanout. The estimate of side sewers was based on
pipeline video inspection. The inspection cannot determine capped lines or stubs from live connections.
Consequently the number of actual connections was less than 75%of the estimate and resulted in an
equitable adjustment in Item#40 as provided for in WSDOT Specifications Section 1-04.6 Increased or
Decreased Quantities.
Item#13—Sanitary Sewer Pipe,8". A larger diameter pipe was installed and reduced the quantity for the
8"PVC main.
Item#14—Sanitary Sewer Pipe,10". Additional 10"PVC pipe was installed instead of a smaller 8"PVC
main.
Item#15—Sanitary Sewer Pipe,12". Additional 12"PVC main installed due to the movement of a
• manhole from the middle of the street to the end of the alley.
Item#16—Sanitary Sewer Pipe,15". A portion of the estimated 15"PVC main was not used.
Item#17—Sanitary Sewer Pipe,16",Class 50 Ductile Iron. Smaller size ductile iron pipe had to be
installed to avoid conflict with an existing 48"Combined Sewer.
Item#18—Sanitary Sewer Pipe, 18". There was a small increase from the estimated lineal footage of 18"
PVC main.
Item#19—Sanitary Sewer Pipe, 18"Class 50 Ductile Iron. There was a small increase from the
estimated lineal footage of 18"PVC main.
Item#20—Additional Sewer Cleanout. A larger number of separate black and grey water side sewer
connections were anticipated for this part of town than needed.
Item#21—Storm Drain,8". A portion of the estimated quantity for 8"Storm Drain was not used.
Item#22—Catch Basin,Type B. Two catch basins were added during field modifications.
Item#23—Gravel Borrow. There was an increased need to backfill with Gravel Borrow instead of native
material than originally estimated.
Item#24—Crushed Surfacing Top Course. There was an increased quantity of Crushed Surfacing Top
Course due to the variation in pavement width for the alleys.
Item#25—Asphalt Concrete Pavement,Class B. There was an increased quantity of Asphalt Pavement
due to the variation in pavement width for the alleys to match existing field conditions.
Item#26—Cement Concrete Pavement. A proposed CRIP savings by the contractor allowed a main to
be installed by trenchless methods and reduced the quantity of Cement Concrete panels to be replaced.
Item#27—Cement Concrete Rolled Curb and Gutter. This item was deleted from the contract in order
to add Item#36. The City is better equipped to maintain an extruded asphalt curb.
Item#28—Street Cleaning. The hours of street cleaning was increased in order to prevent complaints
from residents about the tracking of dirt and the creation of dust from contractor operations.
Item#29—Dust Control. The estimated quantity of water for dust control was not used.
Item#30—Control Density Fill. The estimated quantity of control density till was not used.
Item#31—Pavement Patch,Temporary MC250. Less pavement patching was required due to the CRIP
savings proposal previously mentioned in Item#26.
Exhibit A 1
