ADaPT En¢incerin¢, Inc.
During drilling, soil samplcs were oUtaincd on 5-foot depth intervals using the SWndard Penetration Test
(SPT) procedure (ASTM: D 1586). This test and sampling method consisu of driving a standard 2-inch
ouuide diameter !OD) split-barrcl samplcr a distance of 18 inches into the soil with a 140-pound hammer,
free-falling a distancc of 30 inches. The nurober of blows required to drive the sampler through each of
the three. 6-inch intervals is notcd. The total number of blows siruck during the final 12 inches of
penetration is considered thc Standard Penetration Resistance, or "blow counP'. 11' S0 or more blows are
struck within one 6-inch interval, the dnving is ceascd and the blow count is recorded as 50 blows for thc
actual number of inches of pcnetration. The resulting Standard Penetration Resistance values provide a
mcasure of thc relative density of granular soils or thc rclaiive consistency of cohesive soils.
Ihe boring log appended to this rcport describes the various typcs of soils encountcred in lhe bring,
based primarily on visual interpretations made in the ficld. The log also indicates the approximate depth
of the contacls between diffcrent soil types, although thesc contacts may bc gradational or undulating.
Where a change in soil typc occurred betwecn sampling intervals, we inferred the depth of contact. In
addition, the log indicates the depth of any groundwater obscrved in thc boring; the Standard Penetration
Rcsistance at each sample location, and any laboratory tcsts perfortncd on the soil samples.
SITE CONDITIONS
Thc following sections describe our observations, measuremcnts, and intcprctations concerning surface,
soil, groundwater, and seismic conditions at the project site.
Srujnce Conditions
The host paroel is located at 8215 I3roadway in Lvcrctt, Washington. Currently, the host site is occupied
1-5 Trailcr Sales, Feely Enteprises. Thc proposed tower lease area is localed at the noriheast portion of
the hust property in an undeveloped area. The topography of the leasc arca slopcs in lhe southwest to the
northeast direction. The ground surface at the proposed tower lease is covcred by blackUerry bushes,
concrete debris, and wood matcrials. Thc proposed rower Icase area can be accessed via a paved
driveway off of Broadway. The proposed lease area abuts a iarge retaining wall for Interstate 5 which is
located cast of thc site. We understand VoiceStrcam Wircicss proposcs to construct a monopole
communicatinn tower and associated equipment building or cabmets. The project site and surrounding
area are shown on Qie attachcd site vicinity map (Location Map, Figure 1). The attached Site and
Exploration Plan (Pigure 2) shows the approximatc location of thc proposed cellular towcr lease area in
relation to other site features.
Subsurjace Condrtions
On April 6, 2000, n exploratoiy tcst boring was drilled to a dcpth of approximatcly 28.5-fect below the
existing ground surtacc. The location ef the boring, designated as B-1, is shown on Figure 2. Surficial
soils cncountercd at thc boring location consisted of about 2-inches of grass and topsoil over silty sand
\'uice5trcam Wimless May 18, 2W0
ADaPI' Pmjcct No. WA00-0O)4 °B Z
