Are these continuous foundations, and is the outer foundation used for anything currently? These relate to deleting or not providing a parapet, but allowing a 2 hr wall assembly next to the existing building. 704.3 Buildings on the same lot and the imaginary property line. 704.5 Wall rated for exposure from both sides. 704.6 Stability required and height required per 704.11. 704.11 Parapets - use exception 2 so not required: (new addition is not more than 1000 sf). So, we have provided a separate structure, independent of the main church without a parapet, but added additional 2 hr rating for the first 4' of the roof structure (This really applies to a one hour party wall provision, but we have added it for extra measure.) Maybe these thoughts will assist. We would like to send it back to the engineer to have additional footing work done and to check on the independent structure above Take care.
