The remainder oi the south central wetland and the
?y southeastern most wetland that abuts Casino Road would be
'j "' retained and incorporated into the mitigation plan.
5. Mitigation Design.
The proposed mitigation area will be located in the
southeast corner of the Fite (SD-1) , and would incorporate the
~ southeastern portion of the middle wetland and all of the
southeastern wetland. The entire site, minus the buffer area,
will constitute a 1.3: 1. replacement in acres of wetlands over
those areas to be lost with the proposed development.
The mitigation area will consist of an excavatecl
'1 retention/detention area which duplicates the conditions and
_' the functions uf the wetlands that occur under existing
conditions . The area will be revegetated using a mix of
.. native plant species and nursery stock plus seedings and plant
' ; slips (i.e. , individual non-rooted shoots of wetland dependent
shrubG and trees) . (See attached planting plan)
Grass lined swales wi. 11 be constructed around the
„ periphery o[ the south and east side ot the site (SD-3 and SD-
'_1 5) . Thc swales will be 1.1..5 feet wide at the top with 3: 1
slope down to a 3.5 foot wide bottom. They will graded at a 3-
' S percent slope to create slow flows which will expedite
biofiltration. The swales will be planted with a dense low
' « grass/soft rush mix to provide a dense vegetative ground cover
' both in the summer growing season andl nts haveh beennselected
grasses become dormant. Low growing p
' to maximize the sunlight or openness and to avoid dense tall
' monocultures which frequently occur with cattail or big sCem
` bulrush.
2
