The lower edge closest to the center core of <br /> �yy � the wetla�d will include some plantinqs of salnionberry which <br /> c�i� tn will be taken from the existing site. <br /> �y y Larger black cottonwood trees will be incorporated into <br /> y�y the wetland buffer and in the inter-core elevation 564 through <br /> '_�65 areas. Oregon ash found on the site will be excavated and <br /> placed in the elevation 563 area. Western red cedar and <br /> Douglas fir will be incorporated into these areas as <br /> appropriate. The edge surrounding the upper reaches uf the <br /> nort.h end of the wetland will be planted with a native willow <br /> ! mix including Sitka willow and heart-leaf willow. The lower <br /> edge will include a mix of willows including Sitka willow, <br /> piper' s willow, and the variety willow. Additional large <br /> streambank varieties of black/ lasiandra willow will be planted <br /> in the buffer area to provide diversity and rapid growth. The <br /> '�t outer edges of the slope abutting Building 8 will be planted <br /> 1 ' w.ith a variety of fl,owering upland species that will provide <br /> � � spring color and summer berries or fruits. These will include <br /> � American wild plum, wild cherry and chokecherry. This mix <br /> � � will be continued along the east side of the property and in <br /> ��� the narrow separation between Casino Road and the wetland <br /> '�1 along the south side of the property. <br /> ��' The peninsulas or raised areas in the center core of the <br /> wetland will be planted with a mix of red alder , black <br /> ' cottonwood, and Pacific willow. This combination is intended <br /> ' to provide a high canopy deciduous area for nestinq birds <br /> plus crevice-nesting habitat as the trees mature. <br /> ; The elevation 563 area will be planted with a mix of <br /> willow, red-osier dogwood, and ninebark along with the Oregon <br /> ash . This area will be at the edge of inundation during <br /> 'w' periods when tliere is water in the wetlands system. The <br /> remainder oE the area (i .e . , 561 , 562 elevations� will be <br /> plai�ted with the native material from the northwestern <br /> wetland. In addition, there� will be clusters oE big-stem <br /> bulrush, three-square bulrush, spikerush, and bur-reed planted <br /> into the system. This will provide short, medium, and tall <br /> emergent marsh plants. Thc big stem bulrush will be planted <br /> 5 <br />
