Strucmral Practices: In addition to stabilization practices, the Erosion and
.diment Control Plan shall include a description of structural BMPs to divert
flows from exposed soils, store ilows or otherwise Iimit runoff and the
discharge of poliutants from exposed areas of the site to the degree attainable.
Such practices may include silt fences, eacth dikes, dtainage swales, sediment
• iraps, check dams, subsurface drains, pipe slope drains, Ievel spreaders, storm
drain inlet protection, rock outlet protection, reinforced soil retaining systems,
gabions, and sediment basin. Structural practices ahould be placed on upland
soils to the degree attainable. The installation of these devices may be subject
ro Section 404 of the Federal Ciean Water Act. The plan shall ensure that the
! following requirements ace satisfied:
a. Prior to leaving the site, stonn water runoff shall pass through a
sediment trap, or other appropriate BMPs.
b. Properties adjacent to the project site hall be protected from sediment
deposition.
c. Sediment traps, perimeter dikes, sediment barriers, and other BMPs
intended to trap sediment on site ahall be constructed as a first step in
grading. These BMPs shall be functional before land disturbing
activities take place. Earthen Ftructures used for sediment wntrol
such u dams, dikes, and diversions shall be stabilized as soon as
possible.
d. Properties and waterwaya downstream from the construction site shall
be protected from erosion due to increases in atortn water cunoff from
the site.
e. All temporary erosion and sediment control BMPs shall be removed
within 30 days after final site stabili7ation is achieved or aftet the
temporary BMPs are no longer naded. Trapped sediment shall be
removed ostabilized on-site. Disturbed soil areas resulting from
removal shall be permanently stabiliu.
3. Selection of Stabiliration and Structural BMP's described in Volume il of
Ecology's Stotmwater Mana¢ement Manual for the Pueet Sound Hasin
{SWMM)• or other equivalent and approptiate BMP's to wmply with the
requirements listed in sections above. Permittas outaide the puget Sound
basin shall selxt from BMP's described in the Erosion and Sediment Control
Handbook, by Goldman et al; Volume II of Ecology's SWMM as adapted for
local conditions using best professional judgemenh or other equivalent end
appropriate BMP's to comply with the requirements listed in subsxtions
above.
4.
