Excavate by hand in areas where space and access will not pertnit use of machines. <br /> D. Notity Bceing immediately when excavation has reached the depth indicated. <br /> E. Restore bottom of excavation to proper elevation with compacted fili or compacted <br /> granular material in areas overexcavated. <br /> 3.5 DEWATERING: <br /> A. Keep trench free of water. <br /> B. Ptovide adequate pumping and piping equipment to accommodate and dispose of <br /> water. <br /> C• Provide adequate screens or plugs to prevent abjectional material from entering pipe. <br /> D. Using well points, welis, etc., lowet and maintain the static ground water level to at <br /> least 1 1/2 feet below the bottom of the excavation during excavation, pipe laying, <br /> and initial filling. <br /> E. Obtain Oµrner's Authorized Representativc's approval of discharge point or points <br /> prior to beginning dewatering. <br /> 3.6' SHEETING AND BRACING: <br /> A. Provide sheeting and bracing as required to prcvent caving or sloughing <br /> oftrenchwalls. Contractor shall be rcsponsible for all trench construc:ion and <br /> maintenana, including the adequacy of the trench ahating and bracing, and safety of <br /> workers. <br /> � H. Solid-sheet trench, if necessary, to preserve a suitable grade for the pipe.
