Construct, weakcned-plane (contraction) and construction joints truc to linc with (acc <br /> perpendicular to surflce of concrete. Construct transverse joints at right angles to <br /> centerline unless otherwise indicated. <br /> 3.7 WEAKENBD-PLANE (CONTRACTION) JOINTS: <br /> A. Provide weakened-plane (contraction)joints, sectioning concrete into areas to match <br /> existing wnditions. Construct wealcened-plane joints for a depth equal ro �t �east 1/4 <br /> concrete thickness, as follows: <br /> 1. Tooled loints: Form weakened-plane joints in fruh concrete by grooving top <br /> portion with a recommended cutting tool and finishing edges with a.jointer. <br /> 2. Sawed loints: Form weakened-plane joints with pawered saws equipped with <br /> shatterproof abrasive or diamond-rimmed blades. Cut joints into hardened <br /> concrete as soon az surface will not be tom, abraded, or otherwise damaged <br /> by cutting action. <br /> 3.8 CONSTRUCTION JOINTS: <br /> p, Place concrete joints at end of placen,ents to match existing conditions, and at <br /> locations where plaament operations ue stopped for a period of more than 1/2 I�our, <br /> except where such placements tecmirute at expansion joints. <br /> 1. Constnut joints as shown or, if not shown, use standard metal keyway-section <br /> forms. <br /> 2. Refer to reference drawings for existing joint layout and conditions. <br /> 3.9 GXPANSION JOINTS: <br /> A. Provide premoldsd joint filler for expansion joints abutting concrcte wrbs, catch <br /> basins, manholes, inlets, structura, walks, and other fixcd objects, unlcss otherwise <br /> . indicated. <br /> 1. Locate expansian joints to match existing conditia�.s unless otherwisp <br /> indicated. <br /> B. Extend joint fillers full width and depth of joint and not less than 1/2 incl� or more <br /> than 1 inch below finished surface where joint sealer is indicated. If no joint aealer, <br /> plaa top of joint filler flush with finished concrete surface. <br /> C. Fumish joint fillera in one-piece lengths for full width being placed, whercver <br /> possible.
