Comply with thc rcquirements of ap;licable Division 7 sections for preparation of <br /> joints, materials, installation, and performance. <br /> 3.11 CONCRETE FINISHING: <br /> A. After striking off and consolidating concrete, smooth surface by screeding and <br /> floating. Adjust 8oating to compact surface and produce unifortn texture. <br /> B. Aker floating, tes�surface for trueness with a 10-foot straightedge. Distribute <br /> concrete as requiral to rcmove surface inegularities and refloat repaired areas to <br /> provide a continuous smooth Cmish. <br /> C. Work edges af slabs, gutters, back top edge of curb, and focmed joints with an <br /> edging tool and round to 1/2-inch radius unless otherwise indicated. Eliminate tool <br /> marks on concrete surface. <br /> p. ARet completion of floating and troweling when excess moisture or surface shecn has <br /> disappeared, complete surface finishing as follows: <br /> 1. Broom finish by drawing a fine-hair broom across concrete surface. Repeat <br /> operation if required to ptovide a fine line texmre. <br /> D. Do not remove forms for 24 hours after wncrete has been placed. After form <br /> removal, clean ends of joints and point up any minor haneycombed arcas. Remove <br /> and replacc areas or seccions with major defects, as directed. <br /> E. Ptotect and cure finished concrete paving, wmplying with curing requirements of this <br /> section. <br /> 3.12 SURFACE TEST <br /> p. As soon as the conerete has hardened sufficiently, the pavement sur(ace shall be <br /> retested with a 16-foot straight edge or other specified device. Areas in a slab <br /> showing high spots of more than 1/4 inch but not exaeding 1/2 inch in 16 feet sliail <br /> be marked and immediately gtound down with an aPProved grinding machine to an <br /> elevation that will fall within the tolerance of l/4 inch or less. Whete the depacture <br /> from within the cross sxtion exceeds 1/2 inch, lhe pavement shall be removed and <br /> replaced at the Conttactors expense when so directed by the Engineer. <br /> g, pll areas or sec�ions so removed shall be full paneis. Removal ahall not stop with any <br /> portion of removed panel remaining. <br /> 3.13 CURING <br /> PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE PAVING 02520 - 7 <br />
