BOEING EVERETT SECTION 34 11 11 <br /> NEW RAIL SPUR BALL�STED TRACK CONSTRUCTION <br /> WORK ORDER 10-305 <br /> G Ezcavation and embenkment tor subgrade preparetion for the new track shall accommodate <br /> placement ot new subballast and ballast malerial. Refer lo the requirements of Section 34 11 20, <br /> Subbal'�st,for subgrade preparetion. <br /> 3.3 PLACEMENT OF SUBBALLAST: Subballast shall be distributed, placed, and compacled in <br /> accordance wilh Sedion 34 �1 20, Subbailast. <br /> 3.4 PLACEMENT OF BALLAST <br /> A. Prior to placement of ballast, rutting end other damage lo the subballasl ahall be corrected. <br /> B. Uniformly distribule a base layer oi ballast over lhe subballast end compacl before tie distribulion. <br /> 1. Compaci initial layer ot ballast over the enlire ballast section es indicated on Ihe Standard <br /> Drawings. <br /> 2. Limit the base layer of ballast to 610 8 inches deep ready to compact without further sheping. <br /> 3. The ballast shall be compaded with not less than three passes o1 e vibretory roller ot gross <br /> weight not less than 5,000 pounda,a drum not less than 58 inches wide and not less than 42 <br /> inches in diameter. The vibralion frequency shall be between 1,100 and 2.000 vibrations per <br /> minule and ahall impart a dynamic impact o(not less lhan nine tons. A preliminary ballast <br /> layer shall not be spread for yard and secondary tracks. Avoid damage to exisling(acilities <br /> including sub-draina, stub-upa,conduits, and other structurea. <br /> 4 Ballest finish: The top of Ihe base ballast layer shell be e level, flat plane, unifortnly <br /> compacted prior to cross tie distribution. <br /> 3 5 PLHCEMENT OF TIMBER CROSS TIES AND TIMBER SWITCH TIES: <br /> A Ezcept as modfied herein; handle timber cross lies and timber switch ties,lranspoA and store in <br /> accordance with lhe current AREMA slandards. <br /> 1. Use only approved lifling devices lhal will not damage the lie. <br /> 2 Trznsport cross ties and switch ties in a honzontal position and brece to prevent movement <br /> that could cause damage. <br /> B. Transport the timber cross ties lrom the storage area to the job site, where lhe ties shall be <br /> distributed and properly spaced on ihe compacted base layer o1 ballasL Space cross lies in <br /> accordance wilh the following critena as indicated on lhe Contracl Drawings. <br /> t Timber cross ties shall be spaced 21.5 mches cenler-totenter, measured al centedine of <br /> track, or high outside rail on curves. <br /> C Transport timber switch ties to the job site,where the ties shall be distributed and properly spaced <br /> on the base layer of ballasl in accordance to Section 34 11 14, Ballasted Special Trackwork <br /> Construc6on. <br /> 3 6 RAIL INSTALLATION Lay.join,and anchor bolted rail and CWR in accordance with Section 3411 <br /> 10, Track Conslruction.
