4 <br /> 7 <br /> -Private Boats stored at the boathouse by ERA members may not be moved from their <br /> rack without the written notification of the boat owner. Storage fees shall be determined <br /> by the Council. Statements will be sent to owners at the beginning of the fiscal year. <br /> -Boathouse Managers and coaches must have attended an Council approved BI-I1\11Coach <br /> class to include all information found on the BHIM Certification sheet before they take <br /> duty. <br /> Equipment Handling <br /> Boats & Oars: <br /> -Enlist enough people to safely carry, launch and row the boat without injury to <br /> themselves or damage to the shell. <br /> -Assign one person to give commands (usually coxswain). All others to remain silent. <br /> -Check all equipment before departure. Place shell on stretchers, check seat, slides, nuts <br /> and bolts for snugness, adjust spacers and boot stretchers as needed. Before rowing be <br /> sure all portholes and drain plugs are closed. Be careful when closing them as they cross <br /> thread easily and become impossible to open. <br /> -L aun:h and ,lock with the bow into the <br /> -Give wide berth to bridge abutments, dead heads, log rafts, pilings, debris and other <br /> man-made or natural obstacles, and avoid coming about or drilling when immediately up <br /> current from the,.,. <br /> -All seats are tied in before inverting the shell. <br /> -Hold shells away from the dock when launching or removing the shell from the water. <br /> Damage results when boats are dragged over the dock edge. <br /> -After use, place shell on stretchers, thoroughly rinse and polish dry (abrasion from sand <br /> destroys moving parts. Use clean towels to avoid scratching the shell's finish. <br /> -Open all portholes and drain plugs after washing to allow the boat to drain and air out, <br /> then turn oarlocks inwards before putting away. <br /> -All shells are stored with their bows facing into the boathouse. <br /> -Oars will be stored in the boathouse by coded sets. <br /> -In the event of damage, note the damage on a RED TAG and attach it to the equipment <br /> in need of repair. List your name, date, and a complete specific description of-the damage <br /> in the log book. <br /> -Inspect the dock and grounds to be certain all equipment has been put away before <br /> leaving. <br /> 20 <br />
