Expenditure Required $ -0- Account Number(s): Amount Budgeted $ -0- Additional Required $ -0- DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT: After competing with cities in Arizona, California and Nevada, Snohomish County was awarded the National Softball Association Girl's Fastpitch World Series Tournament. The tournament will take place in July, 2004 in Everett, Lynnwood, Marysville and Monroe. Ten (10)of the 25 fields needed for the tournament are located in Everett's Kasch Park (6 fields) and Phil Jackson Park (4 fields). Six ( 6) Everett Hotels are committed to 363 rooms per night for a total of 2,541 room nights for the week,the largest hotel block of any of the cities represented in the tournament. The direct economic impact to Everett hotels will be$124,915 and the direct spending by teams, families and guests while in Everett will be$1.2 million. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign the Agreement between the City of Everett and the National Softball Association to allow use of the fields in Kasch and Phil Jackson Parks for the 2004 Girl's Fastpitch Softball World Series Tournament from July 18, 2004 to July 25, 2004. 17
