•
7
Task 513 Structural Design
Objective. The purpose of this task is to provide structural design work up to and including final drawings
and specifications suitable for inclusion in public bidding documents for the project.
Approach. Structural drawings for inclusion in the project manual will be prepared for the new hypochlorite
storage building. The controlling code is the latest IBC with local amendments.
Activities/Products. Structural drawings and specifications will be prepared for walls, footings, piles,
beams, slabs, structural steel, concrete reinforcement, anchor bolts, bracing, miscellaneous metals and other
structural aspects of any new facilities associated with the project discussed previously with the exception of
the design of a pre-engineered steel roof.
Structural design, calculations and building code review will be documented, as required, for structural
components.Although the roof will be pre-engineered, the structural design will include a layout and typical
details for the roof framing.
Initially, masonry block (CMU)will be evaluated against cast-in-place concrete so that wall material selection
can be made and documented in the design intent memo. If load-bearing CMU is selected, pilasters may be
required.
Architectural items such as doors, windows, finishes, specialties and fire protection will be included mainly in
the structural design effort but shown on structural (S) or mechanical (M) drawings as appropriate.
Activities/Products.
1. Products for this task include structural analysis and calculations associated with design of structures.
2. Structural (S) drawings and specifications will be submitted with the 50, 90 and 99 percent design
review submittals and will be included in the project manual.
City's Responsibilities.
1.
