7 <br /> Task 514. Mechanical Design <br /> Objective. Prepare mechanical design calculations and drawings up to and including final drawings and <br /> specifications suitable for inclusion in public bidding documents for the project. <br /> Approach. The scope of work for this task shall consist of all work necessary to document mechanical <br /> facilities to be installed for the project discussed previously. Mechanical design activities include selecting and <br /> specifying all equipment and materials for piping,fittings and supports,valves,storage and day tanks,transfer <br /> and metering pumps,HVAC and plumbing systems,and other miscellaneous items. <br /> Mechanical drawings will include P&IDs, plan views and sections showing equipment locations, and details <br /> for pipe supports and mounting where necessary. Between major components, the design will indicate <br /> general pipe routing pathways that are schematic in nature to support field routing of the piping, essentially <br /> all of which is small diameter. Areas of pipe details include elevation views of the truck unload station hose <br /> connections,valves and manifolds,the transfer pump station, the metering pump station and the tanks and <br /> appurtenances,such as sight glasses.New hypochlorite metering diffusers will be specified and detailed. <br /> Plumbing design includes standard hose bib or utility stations and a sink.A lavatory will not be included. <br /> Tank design and specification includes plan views showing circumferential and top locations of tank wall <br /> penetrations and details for vent, overflow and drain piping designed to minimize gaseous hypochlorite <br /> migration. <br /> Activities/Products. <br /> 1. Products for this task include analysis and calculations associated with design of mechanical <br /> systems. <br /> 2. Mechanical (M) drawings and specifications will be submitted with the 50,90 and 99 percent <br /> design review submittals and will be included in the project manual. <br /> City's Responsibilities. <br /> 1. Provide all necessary shop drawings, submittals, records, and operation and maintenance <br /> information necessary to establish the facilities conditions that the mechanical design is <br /> based on. <br /> 2.
