7 <br /> Task 516. Instrumentation and Controls Design <br /> Objective. To develop instrumentation and controls and control strategy specifications and drawings as <br /> required to monitor and control the hypochlorite facility, up to and including final drawings and <br /> specifications,suitable for inclusion in public bidding documents for the project. <br /> Approach. The scope of this task shall consist of all work necessary to develop the instrumentation and <br /> controls construction documents in this project This task shall not include development of PLC <br /> programming Design drawings shall include instrumentation system diagrams, control diagrams, loop <br /> diagrams, control strategies, fire alarm and gas monitoring systems, and I/O cabinets. Specific activities are <br /> as follows: <br /> • Develop control and instrumentation interlock notes. <br /> • Write narrative descriptions of control strategies and sequences. <br /> • Specify sensors and instruments to be used. <br /> • Investigate requirements and design for fire and security alarm systems. <br /> • Complete drafting of instrumentation and control system drawings, including symbol and detail <br /> sheets. <br /> • Provide instrumentation loop wiring diagrams <br /> • Specification of control system hardware requirements <br /> • Development of the P&ID's <br /> Programming is not included in this scope of work. This will be deferred to the construction phase of this <br /> project, and will be based on the assumption that ECS will be hired as a subcontractor to the contractor on <br /> the construction project. Since ECS is experienced with programming on-site, the instrumentation <br /> documents prepared in this scope of work will be prepared consistent with ECS's general project and site <br /> experiences. It is also assumed that ECS will be hired by the contractor during the design phase to facilitate <br /> and review the products of this task. <br /> Activities/Products. Specific electrical activities included in this task are as follows: <br /> 1. Preparation of design drawings for providing instrumentation equipment described above <br /> 2. Instrumentation (I)drawings and specifications will be submitted with 50,90 and 99 percent <br /> design review submittals and will be included in the project manual. <br /> City's Responsibilities. <br /> 1.
