PRESS RELEASE <br /> ADMINISTRATION <br /> Thursday, April 21, 2005 Contact: Kate Reardon <br /> For Immediate Release Public Information Director <br /> kreardon@ci.everett.wa.us <br /> 425-257-8687, or page 425-339-8980 <br /> Seven youth honored with Mayor's Award <br /> Mayor Stephanson recognizes talents, dedication of youth <br /> EVERETT — The City of Everett celebrates each year youth in the community who give in a <br /> variety of ways with the distinguished Mayor's Youth Achievement Awards. This year's event <br /> recognized the positive achievements and perseverance of seven young people in an evening <br /> ceremony at the April 20 Everett City Council meeting. <br /> For the 16th year, the City of Everett honors Everett's outstanding young people from <br /> among those nominated for their achievements in the community. The annual awards are <br /> presented to students for outstanding accomplishments, willingness to serve and dedication to <br /> positive, worthwhile goals. They must have excelled in such a way to bring honor to themselves, <br /> family and community. <br /> This year's Achievement Award winners were chosen from nominations received and <br /> reviewed by a committee of city and community representatives that included Everett City Council <br /> President Marian Krell, Jim McNally, of the Everett School District; Earl Martin, of Everett <br /> Community College; Martha Robins, of the Snohomish County Executive's office; Everett Fire Chief <br /> Murray Gordon, Mark Nesse, Everett library director and Kate Reardon, Everett's public information <br /> director. <br /> The seven winners for 2005 are: <br /> Reda Lee: 18-year old Reda attends Cascade High School and will graduate this spring. <br /> She is the youngest in a family of six children. While attending school and working part-time, <br /> Reda pursued a variety of leadership roles that helped her find her true identity.
