12
29. Additional underground ductile iron pipe fittings. $3,344.96
30. Demo concrete curb at Operations Bldg overhead door. $1,496.44
31. Install air release piping& vault at the high point in the Plant Water Pump Station
underground suction line. $831.49
Total cost of $120,232.64
JUSTIFICATION:
The reasons for the above additional work fall under three separate categories as
listed below.
1. Additional Scope. The following work change directives fall into this category.
Work change directive numbers 2, 3, 7, 8, 12, 13, 16, 18, 20,26, 27a, 29,30 &
31.
2. Unknown or changed conditions. Work change directive numbers 4, 5, 6,& 9 fall
into this category.
3. Design omissions. Work change directives numbers 1, 15, 17 & 23 fall into this
category.
Further explanation or justification on the three larger dollar cost work change directives
9. 16 & 17 are described below.
Work Change Directive # 9. Style of soil anchors required for the Alum/Polymer Storage
Building were revised from the specified helical tension anchors to earth grouted columns
because the soil was not as predicted in the soils report used to design the anchors.
Work Change Directive #16. 420 LF of 8-inch ductile iron pipe, fittings and valves were
added at the City's request to allow installation of underground piping needed for the
next phase of construction. Scheduling the work in this Contract prevented seasonal
impacts that would have been created if done in the next contract.
Work Change Directive # 17. The plans were lacking in adequate detail to provide shop
drawings for the structural steel building. The fabricator worked with the Contract
Design Engineer to add required connection details and structural members. The
additional costs include design time, added materials, added fabrication and erection plus
time delays in this critical path construction,
Please note that the numbers on the work change directives listed above
are not sequential and that roughly 10 work change directives on various
issues are currently under negotiation between the City and the
Contractor. When negotiations on these issues are finished they will be
summarized into future change order#2.
125
Exhibit A
