14
1) Preserve existing public transportation service levels.
• Maintained fixed route capacity by operating five 60-foot articulated buses, sixteen 40-foot
coaches,ten 35-foot coaches, and nine 29-foot coaches
• Downtown circulator and shuttle routes continued. Route 4 provides service between
Downtown Everett and Maple Street to the east (including Group Health), and Bond Street to
the west, including Providence Hospital Pacific Campus. Route 5 was modified to operate in
support of Snohomish County Courts for juror transport between Everett Station and the
County Court House.
• In cooperation with the Navy, ET renewed the"Navy Pass"for Naval Station Everett.
Implemented in March 2000, the "pre-paid"pass, as part of the naval station's commitment to
the city's Commute Trip Reduction Ordinance and to encourage greater use of transit, allows
all active and retired Navy personnel and their dependents to use Everett Transit services. ET
worked with the Navy in mitigating security concerns in a post-9/11 environment and
developed a mutually agreeable bus route through the base, improving access to Navy Pass
holders.
• In partnership with Sound Transit, established a separate customer service database to support
the regional trip planning system and installed two trip planning kiosks at Everett Station.
• Continued daily boarding counts to provide accurate ridership data—which is the foundation
of revenue determination from the Puget Pass program—and also to provide reliable data for
future service planning needs.
• Executed federal grants that provide funding, for preventive maintenance.
2) Preserve existing public transportation facilities and equipment.
• Ongoing maintenance of the vehicle fleet, equipment and facilities was accomplished.
• Installed and/or modified transit amenities as limited resources allowed. .
3) Integrate public transportation services into a coordinated system linked by intermodal
facilities.
• Everett Transit continues to provide coordinated bus service with the WSF system at
Mukilteo. This service allows Whidbey Island residents a seamless transfer between the ferry
and bus to access their,Naval Station Everett, as well as other work sites and service locations
in Everett.
• Everett Transit also serves Amtrak passenger rail and Greyhound/Northwestern Trailways at
Everett Station. Along with Everett Station, ET is continuing its efforts to develop an
additional public transportation center in Everett by 2006 -the North Everett Transit Center at
Everett Community College. This project is a joint project with Sound Transit.
- - 6
99
