- � � b. Conclusions: The proposed signage for the commercial use � of the subject property is consistent with the Everett General Plan. Criterion No. 6: The need for the requested variance is not the result of a seif-created hardship. a. Findin s: The variance request is necessary to allow for a new sign cabinet to be placed on an existing pole sign base. The pole was installed with City permits and approval in 1963. The tenants of the site replaced the sign cabinet in 1987 with City approval and permits (Exhibit#7). The applicant states that the new sign cabinet will be mcre in harmony wilh the image of the current business, and will help to create a new ambiance on site. The applicant has stated that any relocat�on of the pole, wtiich met ail code requirements and still provided for visibility of the sign, would interfere with on site vehicle c'•rculation. b. Conclusions: There are unique circumstances regarding the location of existing improvements on the prop�rty that were created before current zoning code standards. The need for the requested variance is not the result of a self-created hardship. NOW, THEREFORE,the Board of Adjustment of the City of Everett does � hereby order that the requested variance be APPROVED to allow for a new I sign cabinet to be placed on an existing sign pole base which fails to comply � with the required 10 foot inlerior side setback. The action of the Board of Adjustment in APPROVING a variance shall be final and conclusive, unless within twenty-one (21) days from the date of decision an aggrieved person or persons obtains a writ of certiorari from the Superior Court of Washington for Snohomish County for the purpose of review of the action taken.
