Mayor Moore
Ron Cameron, Traffic Engineer
! July 16, 1979
Ia'CXLER'S GA5 LINLS " ' ` ' "
j Page Two
i
They showed letters suggesting suit from the residences on the no; th side oi Lake
Street reJative to Lake Street for deva:uating tus home. The Fleming gas line
would perpetuate tFils problem for Al's.
Eldon was checking with their attorney and said he would call back about trying the
Flemin Road access. He was willtng to try but wanted to check with their
attorney first. I have not been called yet. They felt it k-as unfair that they were
the only gas staticn in town with lines being hassled - they had seen lines from the
Union at Hewitt/Broadway, Standard and Exxon on Bradriay at Pacific, and the
one's right down at Pecks' without them being hassled.
They had commented on the evening oi Friday, June 1, li was there for the same
problem following EPD, ira:fic earlier) that the motorc}cie shops rnuid take
adtantage of gas customers with raileage merits of motorcycles.
So,
- the long driveaays to the north and three businesses to the north are
currently encroached,
- driveways to the south may be an encroaclunent problem, cuttin through
would probably be a problem, and safety along Fleming and at the entrance
is a concern - more businesses ould be: affected to the south as wel! as
privte residences,
- actual successfu! operation with fluctuating lines can't be predicted - failures
in terms of cars cutting around pumps, etc. when there is no visible liner
- where voLd the City's llability be for a gas line accident on Fleming or one
of the private driveways?
