GE07ECHNICAL ENGINEERING STUDY
.1MD Architecture
April 19, 1999
SITE CONDITION$
rface
E-8689
Page 2
The subjct site is located southeast of the intersection of Evergreen Way and Madison Street
in Everett (see Piate 1, Vicinity Map). The appraximately n;ctangular-shaped property is
bordered to the north by Madison Street, to the east by Rainier Drive, to the Nest by
Evergreen Way and to the south by retail buildings.
The site topography ia relatively level, with less tha five feet of elevation change across the
property.
The site contains six existing buildings which vvill be razed to make way for the new
construction.
Su surface
Subsurface conditions at the site were explored by drillinc six borings at the approximate
locations shown on Plate 2. Please refer to the Boring Logs, Platas A2 through A7, for a
detailed description of the conditions encountered at each location explored. A description
of the field exploration methods is included in Appendix A. The following is a generalized
description of the subsurface conditions encountered.
Borings B-1, B-3 and B-6 were located in the proposed building area. At these locations, we
encountered medium dense silty sand with gravel (Unified Soil Classification SM). This
deposit grade to dense and very dense at three to five feet below grade.
Borings B-2, B-4 and B-5 were located in planned parlcing and drive areas. At these locations,
we encountered about five feei of loose silty sand with gravel (SM) overlying medium dense
to dense silty sand with gravei.
The upper three to five feet of the site soils were typically loose to medium dense. We
identified some of the soils as possible fill.
Borings B-2, B-5 and B-li were in areas which are currently covered with asphalt pavements.
The pavement at our bcring locations was two inches thick.
Esr:h Consukant.
