4-2.1.8 BiVIP C1.80 TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL OF CONTAMINATED SOILS <br />Contaminated ground water or soil may be encountered during earthwork activities or by the spill or leak of a <br />hazardous product. The contaminant may be known or unknown. Sampling and laboratory tescs may be required <br />to detertnine whether a landfill can accept the contaminated soil. <br />The Model Toxics Control Act, Ch. 70.105 RCW, requires that Ecolegy's Toxic Cleanup Program be notified if <br />contaminated soil or ground water is r.ncountered during a project. <br />�-2.1.9 BMP C 1.90 CONCRETE TRUCKS/SPRAY WASHING OF EXFOSED AGGREGATE <br />DRNE�'VAYS:IND WALKWAYS <br />The following are acceptable areas for dis�osal of the washout from a concrete tnrck: <br />- A designated area which will later be backfilled (i.e., a slurry pit). <br />- An area where the concrete wash can harden, be broken up, and then put in a dumpster. <br />- A location which is not subject to surface water runoff, and more than 50 feet away from a storm drain, <br />open ditch, or receiving water. <br />Nashout from concrete trucks ma}• never be dumpeci: <br />- [r.to a sanitary sewer <br />- Into a storm drain <br />- Onto soil or pavement which conveys stormwater runoff away from the area. <br />When spray washing driveways or walkways to expose the aggregate, all wash water should be diverted or <br />sprayed [o the sides of the driveway, not down the driveway. [f wat�r must run dewn the driveway towards the <br />street or sidewalk, it should be diverted at the bottom ro a sump or sediment trap. <br />4-2.1.10 Bn'IP C2.Q0 USE OF SANDBLASTING GRITS <br />Sandblasting grits are a hazardous waste if used to clean old buildings where lead, cadmium, or chrome-based <br />paints «•cre applied. They cannot be washed into any sewe� system.
