Undmined filters shall <br />not be placed in the dumpster under any circumstances. <br />Gas, oil, transmission, and hvdraulic fluids, radiator coolant and any other fluids shall be drained from vehicles <br />being scrapped or retired vehicles which will be kep[ on site. These fluids shall be disposed of properly, <br />preferably by recycling. <br />�i-21.3 B�IP S1.20 VEHICLE/EQLTP�IENT W:�SHPiG A_V� STE��I CLE�+„�1Ir'G <br />Washins of vehicles, equipment and parts such as construction equipment, shall occur in a buiiding or in a <br />desimtated area such az that desc: ibed below. This requirement refers to alt methods of washin� in which water <br />is used, includins low-pressure water, high-pressure water, and steam. <br />1Vote: The ure of mobrle wash services is not allowed unless the wash water can be contained cmd discharged to <br />a sanrtarv setiver per the req:�irements of the Ciry's Industrial Pre.rearment Program or discharged into and be <br />treated by a closed-loop recycling svstenr. EYceptrons to these General Requirements are noted below. <br />GEN'ERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Wash water from vehicle and equipment cleanins shall be discharoed to the sanitazy sewer, afrer meeting the <br />requirements of the City's Industrial Pretreatrnent Program. The owner shall conduct washins in one of the __ <br />followin� locations in order of oreference: - <br />1. At a commercial washin� business in which the washin2 occurs in sn enclosure and drains to the sanitarv <br />sewer or; ` _ <br />2. Inside the owner's vehicle or equipment building which is plumbed to drain to the sanitary sewer or; <br />3. In a buildine the owner has constructed specifically for washing of vehicles and equipment which is <br />plumbed to drain to the sanitary sewer or; <br />4. In a covered, outside area desienated by the vehicle owner as a H�ash area, meetin� the requiremenu <br />outlined below. <br />REQUIREI�IENTS FOR WASH AREAS <br />1. The area shall be paved, preferably with Portlai,� cement, and constructed as a spill containment pad to <br />prevent the run-on of stormwater from adjacent pavement areas ihe wash area shall be sraded so that <br />all water is collected in a drain system. The drain system may consist of perimeter drains, trench drains, <br />or ca:chment drains. The wash pad shall be sized to extend out a minimum of four feet on all sides of the <br />vehicles and/or equipment bein� wazhed. <br />?. A Portland cement spill containment pad is required for steam cleanino. <br />3. .411 wash water shall discharse to the sanitary sewer, process treatment, or a dead-end sump, per <br />Industrial Pre[reatment Proeram requirements. <br />4. In areas where the wash wata,- cannot be dischazsed to a sanifary se�ver, wash �vater must be collecced in <br />a dead-end sump, tank, or ether device and transported to the nearest sanitary facility for proper disposal. <br />�. The wash area shall be well marked at =as stations, multi-family residencee, and any other business <br />where vehicles may be washed by noa-employzes. Included in the postin� shall be a statement <br />forbiddin� the changine oI oil in the wash area. <br />
