space for a back entrance half off of the downstairs den. I have placed my washer/dryer
into this area; these appliances were originally placed in the upstairs kitchen. The
original plumbing for the upstairs washer is now servinb as an additional sink in the
kitchen. The toilet room offof the den is now as it has always been. You commented
that this toilet room should have a fan in the room. The room has been in exististance for
40 years without a fan, however I think is a good idea to add a fan to the room. Please
advise if I need the permission from the City of Everett to add a bathroom fan. I have
removed the entire interior, old style, and flat panel doors and have replaced them with
new six panel doors. I have removed all of the molding and casings and have replaced
them with new. I have replaced the old front door with a new one. A comment was
made that headroom clearance for the stairway from the lower level to the entry level is
not per code. I would be nice that the headroom be increased. However, the stairs are, as
they have been for 40 years and have not been altered. It would be interesting to know
what the code requirement, for height clearance, was in 1961 when the house was built.
Without altering the structure of the house I was able get another few inches of head
clearance by altering the existing paneling configuring. I then decided to build a deck otl'
of the master bedroom. 1 did put a hot tub on the deck. You had mentioned that 1 had
installed a '/z" piece of sheetrock in one corner of the garage ceiling. This is true. This
corner of the sarage ceiling, under the stairs, never had any insulation, nor sheetrock
installed. May I have permission from the City of Everett to add another '/z" sheetrock
board under the existin stair. You had mentioned that there were no smoke detectors in
the building. I had just finished painting the interior of the building, and I had tliem
removed for the paintin process. Again, I apologize to the City of Everett for painting
my home without permission. I would like permission to reinstall new detectors.
Upstairs in the kitchen area I followed thru with framing walls on top of the existing
deck, without changing the footprint of the original building. This added another 135 sq.
ft. +/- of interior living area f'or the kitchen. 1 am installing new cabinets in the kitchen.
The house had three toilets, and still does— none have been moved. The master bath
Iad a sink in it — it still does. The master bath had a shower in it— it still remains as
original installation. The hallway bath had the tub removed. The kitchen has one
additional sink in it, made possible with the relocation of the washer to downstairs. The
downstairs toilet room is, as it has always been, contains one sink one toilet— hopefully
the City of Everelt will grant me permission to add a fan in the room. I removed the old
wood 2x4 railing around the existing deck and installed a new railing by KDL. Enclosed
is the layout drawing and Urochure from KDL concerning the railing product I purchased
from them. This lias really been a fun project for me. Early in December I got a visit
from a city otlicial and was told that someone had filed a complaint against this project.
One complaint was that the house was built too close to edge of the bank. I respectfully
ask the City of Gverett to identify this accuser and for this individual to provide
supporting data to his claim. The house is still located exactly where it has been for 40
years. I did not change the footprint of the building. Another complaint was that I had
installed drainage, away from the house; down the bank I have learned from the
neighbors, and from personal experience, that this house has a hisrory of flooding in the
garage level during the rainy season. I have placed drainage pipes to the downspouts,
and have directed the water away from my home. The back-yard drainage is being
diverted by a tight-line that I have installed to the Uottom of the creek. This is the normal
Z7
