Upon obtainmg said perniission, thc <br /> Collowing shall apply: <br /> 1. The Contractor shall usc only thosc hydrants designated by the agency in <br /> diarge of water distribution and in strict accordauce with its requirements for <br /> hydrant use. A hydrant use pemiit must be obtained by contacting the <br /> Utilitics dispatchcr. <br /> 2. The Contractor shall securc permission from and comply with all <br /> requircmcnts of the water utility beforc obtaining water from the fire hydrants. <br /> Thc �ngiucer shall also be notificd Uy the Contractor of such pertnission as <br /> soon as granted. <br /> 3. Thc Contractor shall usc hydrant wrenches only to opcn hydranls. He shall <br /> also make certain that the hydrant valve is open "full" since "cracking" thc <br /> valve causes damage to the valve. An approved auxiliary valve shall bc <br /> provided on die outlet line for control purposes. Pire hydrant valves must bc <br /> closed slowly to avoid a surge in the system thal creates unduc pressure on <br /> water lines. The Contractor sliall carefully note the importance of following <br /> these directions. <br /> 4. If one of Qic Contractor's employees shall knowingly or unknowingly use the <br /> wrong wrench on a hydrant and Utereby damage the hydrant valve stem, thc <br /> Cantractor will be responsiblc. I-fe sliall �mmed�ately notify lhc water utility <br /> so that the damagc can bc repaired as quickly as possiUle. <br /> 5. Upon completing the use of ihc hydrants, Aie Contrac(or shall notify the watcr <br /> distribution agency so lhal thc liydrants may bc thcn inspected for possiblc <br /> damagc. Airy damage resulting Gom tha use of the hydrants by the Contractor <br /> will be repaircd by the watcr agency, mid the cost Uicrcof shall, if necessary, <br /> bc withhcld from the final payment to the Conlraclor. <br /> 6. Violalion of thesc requirements witl result in fines and will lay the Conlractor <br /> liablc for damage suits because of malfunctioning of datnagcd fire hydrants, in <br /> thc evcnt of firc. <br /> �� <br />
