3. Evaluating site preparation requirements, including stripping,
treatment of existing pavements, fill placement, and compaction
requirements.
4. Providing recommendations for foundation deal. -In,
5. Providing recommendations for floor slab support and pavement
construction.
EXISTING SURFACE CONDITIONS
The proposed building area is relatively level and ranges in elevation
from a maximum of about 506 feet at the northeast corner of the building
to a minimum of about 500 feet in the southwest corner (datum is mean sea
level). Most of the building site appears to be in a former cut area,
and immediately south and east of the building site are cut slopes which
reach a maximum height of about 3 feet.
Approximately the northern two-thirds of the building site is
presently paved. The existing edge of pavement is shown on Plate 1.
South of the pavement the building site contains a thick growth of young
alder trees. South and east of the building site the land surface
elevation increases gradually and is vegetated with second -growth deciduous
and evergreen trees.
FIELD EXPLORATIONS tND LABORATORY TESTING
Sube!.rface conditions at the proposed building site were explored by
drilling three shallow test borings at the approximate locations shown
on Plate 1. The borings were drilled to dppi_::s ranging from 7-1/2
to 11-1/2 feet using truck -mounted hollow -stem auger drilling equipment.
All borings were backfilled to grade upon completion. Boring 1, which
was drilled through the pavement, was patched with a concrete surface
Plug.
-2-
pr MEs C maoRG
