•\ 1 CC �\ <br />Laterais: One fullyopen flushing prior to placement of sprinkler heads and / or drain <br />valves. � <br />�STING: <br />General: <br />1. To be valid, all tests must be performed under the direction of the Landscape <br />Architect. <br />2. If any part of the irrigaGon system is backiilled before testing or inspection, it <br />must be completely uncovered and exposed until approved for backfilling. <br />3. Contractor shall furnish a pressure gauge mounted on a qwck coupler valve <br />key fortesting at location directed by Landscape Architect. <br />Preparation: <br />1. Prior to request for preliminary testing, accomplish the following: <br />a. Install all piping, valves, and other equiptment, except sprinkler heads. <br />b. Csp all risers except first riser downslream from valve on each lateral. <br />c. Purge all ar irom mainlines. <br />d. Provide a temporary shut-off valve and quick-coupler assembly at tie in to <br />existing mainline to provide a means of isolating the new work from <br />existing , and to ailow for pressurization of the new section of mainline. <br />Preliminary Testing: <br />1. Test ot Mains and Valves: Wiih all valves in place and closed, test at i 50 psi <br />minimum tor 30 minutes without introduclion of additional service or pumping <br />pressure. Lines which show loss of pressure exceeding 5 psi at the end of <br />specified test period shall be rejected. <br />2. Test o( Laterals: Purge all air from laterals and cap all risers. Open lines will be <br />inspected visually. Lines which evidence visible leaka�e shatl be rejeded. <br />3. Re�ected systems or portions of systems shall be repaired and retested until <br />approved. Do not request retest until satisfied that system will pass testing <br />requirements. <br />BAGKFILL AND COMPACTION: <br />A. Backfill: <br />1. After system is operating and the required tests and apQrovals have been <br />made, backfill excavations and trenches with the specified backfill. Backtili <br />when PVC pipe is not in an expanded condition due to heat or pressure. <br />Cooling the pipe can be accompiished by operating the system a short time or <br />by backiilling in the early part of ihe morning. <br />2. The top 6" oi soil shall be replaced original topsoil with all rocks, sod, and sticks <br />removed. <br />B. Compaction: <br />7. Trenches shall be thoroughly water settled. No sluicing will be permiried. <br />Trenches shall be backiilled unitorm tlush with the surrounding grade, raked <br />and rolied with a 260-Ib. roller. <br />2. Trenches or tunnets under roads or paved areas shall be backfilied and <br />tamped with a mechanical tamper in successive 6" lifts. <br />3. Backfill for all trenches, regardless of the type of pipe covered, shali be <br />crompacted to minimum 95% densityunder pavements, 85% under <br />planted and lawn areas.
