EXHIBIT A-2 I
U SCOPE OF WORK "
Task 4. Supplemental Geotechnical Investigation
This task is to prepare a supplemental geotechnical evaluation to support the Alternatives
Evaluation. The supplemental geotechnical investigation work will proceed only upon
authorization from the City at their discretion.
The supplemental geotechnical investigation task includes the following:
A. Field Explorations. Complete a site visit to the Phase 6 project site to observe existing
geologic conditions, and obtain the following additional field information.
1. Drill and sample up to four borings with a portable Acker type drill rig. The drill
sites will be distributed along the alignment of the possible at-grade road and
accessed from the walkway. Each boring will be drilled to a depth of
approximately 30 feet. Observe and record lithology, physical characteristics of
materials, groundwater, sample locations and recovery, etc.
2. Prepare geologic profiles and sections including field developed topographic cross
sections of the dikes at two locations. The sections will be developed at the same
locations as the two previous borings drilled in the dikes by ZZA. The field
developed cross sections will be limited to the portion of the dike above water.
B. Lab Testing. Select soil samples from the field exploration for laboratory testing in order to
characterize the engineering properties of the soils. The laboratory tests will include organic
content, moisture content, dry density, gradations, Atterberg limits, shear strength, and
consolidation.
C. Geotechnical Engineering Analysis and Evaluations. Identify and provide preliminary
evaluation of geotechnical design parameters and development of constraints for the various
alternatives considered. Provide preliminary geotechnical recommendations regarding the
feasibility of the alternative construction methods for pipeline design for Phase 6. The
following specific issues will considered as part of the alternative evaluation.
1. Extended use of an at-grade road at the east and west ends of Phase 6 to the extent
practical as a possible method for material supply.
• Optional road materials (geofoam, etc)
• Settlement
• Bearing capacity
• Construction considerations
2. Buried pipeline along south side of dike.
• Long term settlement
• Static dike stability
• dewatering
• Liquefaction and lateral spreading during a seismic event
• Construction considerations
MWH 3 9 Page 3 EVERETT PHASE 6-Supplemental Agreement No 2
8/5/05 EXHIBIT A-2—SCOPE OF WORK
