Figure 2 p.esents the former tank location, excavated soil area, and existing boring locatiqns
relative, to current and planned site features. Figure 3 is . enlarged view of the former UST
are,a.
:s.l Soil Borings
7n October 23 and 24, 2000, seven hollow-stem auger borings were drilled at the site (the
existing fire station proprty and the four southem adjacent residential properties). During
drilling, soil samples vere collected for soil identification and/or chemical analysis.
Samples were collected using a 2.-inch in.ner diameter split spoon sampler.
Five of these borings were completed for a concurrent gr.otechnical investigation (BH-1
throug;h BH-S), extending [o depths of 6 to 16 feet. Two additional borings (BH-6 and BH-
7) were completed closer to be azea of the former gasoline release, located on the south and
west sides of the existing fire station building, respectively. These boring locarions were
selected based on the findings of the previously completed site investigations (as described
.bove in Section 2.1) and the suspected azeas cf subsurface contamination. These two
borings extended to depths of SG to 60 feet. Selected soil samples (from BH-6 and BH-7)
were submitted to the analytical laboratory and analyied by the following methods:
Analyses
Total Petroleum Hydrocafions as Gasoline (NWTPH-Gx)
BETX (EPA 8021 B)
4ntity
I 8
Results of these analyses aze presented in Section 4.1 of this report. Please see our
description of the site exploration methods in Appendix B. Boring logs aze presented in
Appendix C.
3.2 Monitering Wells
Monitoring wells were installed into two of the completed hollow-stem auger borings (BH-
G and BH-7), identified as MW-1 and MW-2, respectively. Even though sufficient
groundwater was not identified during drilling of the borings, thesr, wells were installed to
obtain sbstantia( documentation regazding the possible presence of groundwater and any
related contaminatie.
OIAI05•C-RT.doc slOy(ICS
Copyright 2001 G•Logics, Inc.
