The McKEEs replied !hat it has baei for sale for two years, and that yes, they are
interviewing new agents now. Previous agents weren't doing a very aggressive job,
one was interested in purchasing the property himself.
JOHN HOOPER asked how often the residence has been fully rented, with both units
occupied.
The McKEEs replied that it has not been fully occupied since the remodel started.
Various people started projects and then gave up. Future remodel possi6ilides were
described. The south unit is not being rented while the property is for sale, to make it
easier to show. The north unit has not been rented for over four years.
JOAN HOOPER asked how long the garage has been unusable for parking.
DANA MEEKS commented that according to neighbors it has been 15 years.
Conflicting statements were made by DANA MEEKS and the McKEEs about what the
building has been usable for, for how long. TON McKEE said it was usable until
damaged by vandalism.
JOHN HOPPER asked when it was last used as a parking structure.
The McKEEs replied 4-S years ago.
.70HN JONES asked Tim Tyler if the ability to re-build a structure of the same
dimensions could be protected without keeping [he present building.
DANA MEEKS said that the neighbors would support a solution that allowed
rebuilding in the non-conforming dimensions, to conserve parking spaces.
TIM TYLER said that in the case of non-conforming structures the City is liberal .bout
how much of the structure has to be left for it to be re-built as non-conforming. If
there was a foundation, taking i[ down to the foundation would probably preserve the
right to rebuild on tha[ foundation. Without a fuundation it is more awkwazd, a
variance would be needed, there aze criteria beyond the support of the neighborhood
that would have to be met.
TOM McKEE said that they would certainiy like a solution that protects the option to
keep a four-car garage there.
PAM McICEE stated that they could not undertake additional expense right now, but
tha[possibly the new owners would want to pursue that.
JOHN JONES commented that it seems to him that a solution will involve
demolition.
TOM McICEE stated that he is asking for a six month moratorium, to give time for
real estate [ransaction, before any action is required, then perhaps they could do
something about a foundation. He recounted some history of other dealings with City,
both at this and o[her properties.
JEFF MOORE asked Tom McKee if he was now asking for a six-month extension,
rather than the: 90 days mentioned in his letter requesting the appeal hearing?
