Expanded Environmental Checklist
Prepared for the City of Everett, Washington
Proposal: Comnunity Transit Operating Base
Page 7
A sizeable oil and water separator is a part of the site storm drainage
system and inlets to the system are to be located near all kncwn points
where flamnable liquids will be handled. This design makes dual use of
the storm draiage system for control of storm water runoff and retention
oi` "spillage."
No unusual risks are anticipated. ,
(13) Transportaion/Circlation.
(This section attached) •
(15) Ener9y.
The operation of a transit f acility involves the consumN*ion of substan-
tial anounts of fuel. The following cortments apply T,o the development of
the Cortmunity Transit site:
a. The location of this proposed development is more centrally located to
the Community Transit service area than is the present facility. Some
systArtide 'uel savinas will be realized frum the selection of this
site.
b. Some regionwide savings in fuel consumption can be realized fom the
successful operation of the Comnunity Transit system. As noted in the
Air Qualitv section, a larger number of bus riders means fewer cars on
e r`An efficient and well used transit system will reduce the
ovrall fuel consumption for the transit service area.
c. The site plan pruposed for th: facility places the maii;tenance and
serice acLivities in the north central portion of the bus parking
area. This arrangement will shorten the total amount of on-site bus
movement and result in some fuel savings.
cl. The administration and operations buildings wi;l be constructed to
meet or exceed the present energy codes. In the open areas of the
maintenance building unit heaters incorporating energy recovery devi-
ces will be used to provide worker comfort and energy conservation.
