Planning Commission
' March 8, 1983
, Fage -3-
r
Ben Newland stated that we need to recognize the proposed changes will take time,
and that people in the changed areas need to be notifiPd so there are no surprises.
Workshops will be helpfl.
John Friel said that the land usa plan should be generalin direction and a guide for
the future. We can't discuss the Comp Plan without discussing zoning, but it's
causing confusion and it needs to be sorted out. There is a distinction between the
Comp Plan and zoning. Also, when we talk about changing zoning densities in the
north end, we're really talking about a "redevelopment plan", not a 'development
plan".
Ltarior. McCarley stated that she agrees with John and sees this as sornething to
facilitate our diseussions regarding the Plan, but it's too specific and there are no
policies. It is helpful as a guide.
Tanis Marsh stated that predictability and specificity are important, however, we
should now work with the map to decide en policies, and tnese policies should be
flexible when necessary.
Viola Oursler, Northeast Neighborhood, asked if we are stil! working on the problems
of single family neighborhoods, which is a top priority.
Tanis answered that this should be te. Commission's underlying theme in developing
these eighborhoods policies.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:40 Ph.1 by Chairman Tanis Marsh.
nis L. Derick on " r
Secretary
